Verification methods
Per-tier verification requirements and intervals. For the narrative version, see Age and identity and Cybersecurity verification.
Age and identity are separate checks. Age assurance is used only where content requires it. Identity verification is used only where accountability requires it. Merki pays for Sumsub checks; failed checks can be retried after 24 hours.
| Tier | Age gate | Age assurance | Identity verification | Infrastructure proof | Challenge methods | Max challenge life | Wildcards | Subdomain propagation | Re-check interval |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | None | None | None | None | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| Roleplay | 18+ | Sumsub | None | None | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| Cybersecurity | None | None | Sumsub | Domain control | DNS TXT record or .merki file | 7 days | Not allowed | Does not propagate | Every 30 to 60 seconds |
Notes
- Domain rules for Cybersecurity: no wildcards, and verification does not extend to subdomains. Each hostname is verified on its own. Renew at day 6 to absorb DNS propagation delay.
- A challenge must be renewed before the 7 day maximum, or access is suspended and the key revoked.
- Content prohibitions apply at every tier, including Regular. See the Acceptable use policy.
